Our annual fund raiser is set to be spectacular with food tables including meat, seafood, veggies, fruit, bread&cheese, and dessert. Green Dance Winery will match wines to the food. Sandhill Berries will provide their famous dessert. The “Tahiti” décor will include greenery, palms, tropical flowers and backdrops reminiscent of Gauguin paintings. Each attendee will receive a hand painted wine glass. Live music will be provided by the Groove Elements with plenty of room for dancing and seating for those who would rather just listen. At the same time, the Silent Art Auction will be taking its final bids. Be sure not to miss this event, all proceeds benefitting the Greensburg Art Center. SILENT ART AUCTION The annual silent art auction now covers the walls in the classroom (even the bathroom!). Our members have generously donated works for this auction. The bids on these pieces begin at $15, $20 and $25. For the first time this year, we have asked 3 “Artists of Distinction” to donate signature pieces. These special works are displayed on easels at the front of the classroom. The starting bid on each of these pieces is $200, less than ½ of their retail value. The auction will continue until April 23 at the Art on the Vine – Tahiti! event. During that evening, the auction will close and the highest bid on each piece will win. If you are not present but have the highest bid, you will be called the following week.

MONITORS We’re asking all members of GAC to consider becoming a monitor at the Art Center. This volunteer opportunity involves one or two 3 hour shifts a month. Our monitors are the dedicated people who keep your Art Center open! Interested members will be trained by one of our experienced monitors, usually in just one session. You will receive a packet of info on monitors’ duties and procedures that will help you familiarize yourself with the job. In addition to the initial training session, you’ll be able to shadow experienced monitors during their shifts, as many times as you feels necessary before monitoring on your own. Even though this is a volunteer position, we do have a MONITOR REWARDS PROGRAM in place, enabling you to earn points based on the number of shifts you take each month. These points translate into discounts that can be applied to your tuition for classes and workshops. The more you monitor, the greater discount you will earn on your tuition. These points and percentages are compiled once every four months. If you monitor once a month for four months, you’ve earned a 10% discount on classes and workshops. Monitor more often, and your discount increases. More info about the Rewards Program can be found by going to greensburgartcenter.org and clicking on the “welcome” printed in white letters under the paint tubes. From there click below on “Monitor Rewards Program”. If you or anyone you know is interested in learning more about monitoring, please contact Alice O’Brien at alicemob@yahoo.com.
CORRESPONDENCES SECRETARY’S REQUEST: If you know of someone from the membership in need of sympathy, a thank you, get-well card, etc., please contact Mary Ann Calabrase, GAC’s Correspondence Secretary. Her phone number is 724-834-7242.
