END OF SUMMER THOUGHTS AT GAC
As summer slowly comes to an end, we can savor some of the fine memories that remain. We have enjoyed great offerings for a wide range of ages with some of the best teachers in the area. The GAC Education Committee wishes to express its sincere appreciation to all of the instructors who have generously shared their passion and expertise at our art center. A fond memory for children, parents, and teachers alike is the Summer Art Camp, that was held the first week of August. “A Week in the Life of…” was a creative enterprise built around a sculpy clay character based on the imagination of the 24 children attending. Expanding upon the adventures of their creature opened opportunities for painting, printmaking, drawing, language, and interactive skills that culminated in a stop motion video for their families to enjoy at home.
Many thanks to the caring and dedicated teachers who planned, taught, volunteered time or money, or assisted in any way. A special thanks goes out to Tom Tholen, who inspired the theme for the week, modeled after his vast teaching experience with children and youth over the years. We are looking forward to the Fall Session of offerings and even more opportunities to share the Art Spirit!
