OPENING RECEPTION: May 15, 6-8PM. 

The juror for the BIENNIAL is KURT SHAW, a commercially successful artist. ADVERTISING and SPONSORSHIPS for the BIENNIAL PROGRAM are Due April 15.

 

ROWE GARDEN There have been several donations given in the memory of Bill/Kay Rowe for the GAC Garden.   A RECEPTION and DEDICATION of this garden will be held May 2 at 2PM

CATHY ROSENSTEEL MEMORIAL  The Executive Committee has decided to hang a painting of Cathy’s work in the Permanent Collection.

GLORIA GONZALEZ recently passed.  Gloria was an active member of the Greensburg Art Center.  Her paintings, ceramics and photography were exhibited many times in our Gallery and Classroom.  Her warm, friendly presence and her photographic-documentation skill at our events will be missed.

EDUCATION –

SUMMER CLASS PROPOSALS FOR TEACHING AT GAC ARE DUE APRIL 30.  The entire Spring brochure and registration is on the website.

A brand-new offering is

  • Monotype Samplers with Eileen Yeager.  Several printmaking processes will be explored.
  • Ron Thurston Watercolor Workshop-July 28, 29, 30     10am-4pm each day
  • HK Miller One Day Workshop on Oct. 2                          10am-4pm

“Picture this at the Library” is a joint venture between the Greensburg Art Center and the Greensburg-Hempfield Library. The 2021 Season ‘s first exhibit will feature Carlow University Master’s in Art graduate student, Maura Taylor.  Her exhibit, “Reflective Roles”, will feature artwork in oil and acrylic with a unique twist on Fairytale characters.  The exhibit begins April 2 and continues through May13, 2021.  You may visit the exhibit during library open hours.  This exhibition is interesting and compelling in its emphasis on the changing roles of women in today’s world.  Plan a visit to the amazing library we have in Greensburg! For questions or comments , please contact me at 412-558-0810 or rosemarysovyak@gmail.com.

The Executive Committee has decided to include in the NEWSLETTER offerings that might benefit our Members.

  • *LATROBE ART CENTER ANNUAL OPEN SHOW–Drop Off–May 1 & 3
  • *The Westmoreland Museum of American Art: Call for Op-Up Exhibition Proposals. The Westmoreland is accepting proposals for Pop-Up Exhibitions, which are held in the Robertshaw Gallery (adjacent to the lobby on the 1st floor).
  • * Opportunity for Artist Market Members Only:  GAC is accepting “Small Works. For guidelines, please go to https://www.greensburgartcenter.orgunder Artist Market. Watch for more details in e-mails and Facebook.

MONITOR MANAGER Loretta Wolfe is scheduling the volunteers and is finding substitutes when necessary.  If interested in helping by agreeing to take one 3-hour shift, please contact Loretta.

VOLUNTEERS WELCOME: Committees need helping hands–installing exhibitions, mailings, receiving/picking up art,  opening set-ups, take-downs,  etc.

DARKROOM Rental – Available are several enlargers and the necessary trays, sink, safe light, timers, etc. Chemicals are NOT included in the rental cost.   Photo paper is FREE.
